What does the term Happiness Coach make you think about? The notion of happiness is a journey - it is a process and it does not mean that we constantly feel happy all the time. In this episode of The Innovator’s Mindset Podcast, Kim Strobel shares what it means to be a Happiness Coach and how that is not all “sunshine, sparkles, and rainbows.” Right away, Strobel shares about her struggles with the condition, panic disorder. There are powerful connections in our school and there are ways to make sure that all learners have what they need to be successful. When we build relationships, we are able to go further, but there is more than that - we have to be able to lead learners in a common direction. This episode of The Innovator’s Mindset Podcast with Brad Gustafson, an amazing principal, author, and speaker, shares strategies and ways to not only build relationships but to use those connections to create opportunities that empower our learners. Dr. Gustafson shares a powerful story about how his words, shared through the voices of his learners, have helped him in a time of struggle. The two get very serious as they talk about relationships and testing in schools. This leads Couros to share this idea: "If you focus on developing kids as powerful learners, they will do fine on the test. But if you focus on kids doing well on tests, it doesn't mean they will be powerful learners." Through this episode, the two explore strategies and ideas that make schools more empowering for learners.
