“Sometimes our biggest obstacle is our own way of thinking.”
This opening quote starts off this solo episode with George Couros! In education, we face various barriers, we will always have constraints - it is not that we shouldn’t continuously refocus and improve, but sometimes it is that we hold ourselves back with our own thoughts. Couros reflects on how we change our practice and how we constantly improve. When we look at practices in education, there are instances where others believe that we cannot do things in education until someone proves that we can; then those same practices that were believed to be impossible become common practices. Hear the stories that Couros shares as examples of these once impossible practices being proven possible in this episode of The Innovator’s Mindset Podcast!

What is literacy in 2021? Clement Townsend answers this opening question asked by George Couros and shares more about what he is doing with media - specifically video - and how that embodies some of the ideas shared in The Innovator’s Mindset and Innovate Inside the Box. Townsend shares some amazing ways to integrate skills and concepts into the classroom and, more specifically, into media, video creation, and editing. “We can change the way that we teach students basic skills (in a way) that is more relevant and relatable but also has benefits that they can utilize in their everyday life.” Townsend shares some amazing ways to make sure that integrating video is not just an add-on but truly integrated into the classroom curriculum in ways that are meaningful to the learners.
