What were your takeaways from 2023? What will you do better in 2024?

This podcast is based on one of the articles from George's newsletter on gratitude that you can find here:

In this solo podcast, George shares some of the things that he has learned to be grateful for today, that he struggled with in the past. Gratitude is beneficial to learning as shared by this quote from Lainie Rowell:
"Gratitude isn't just about feeling good – it's a game-changer in how we learn.
When we're grateful, our brains release dopamine and serotonin, those feel-good neurotransmitters that not only boost our mood but also help us focus and stay motivated. In fact, practicing gratitude regularly isn't just a one-time mood boost; it actually rewires our brains. This process, known as neuroplasticity, means our brains can adapt and create new connections throughout our lives. So, when we practice gratitude, we're literally training our brains to be more resilient and positive. This isn't just about feeling happier; it's about transforming the way we tackle learning challenges and turning them into opportunities to grow.
In short, gratitude does more than just make us feel good in the moment. It shapes our brain in ways that enhance how we learn, making us more receptive, motivated, and resilient. Learning with gratitude isn't just about acquiring knowledge; it's about building a mindset and disposition that help us learn better and enjoy the journey."

In the final episode of the #InnovatorsMindset #Podcast for Season 4, George shares a lesson that he learned from his daughter Kallea.
When things annoy us, we have to ask, will this even matter 5 minutes now? Even a week from now? Often the answer is no, but we tend to hold onto it way longer than we need.
Understanding what matters (and what doesn't) now helps us in the future.
A short podcast with a strategy that helped me and I hope helps you!
Have a great end of your 2023 and I wish you a wonderful 2024!

Welcome back to another Epic Book Review! George Couros starts this episode with a reflection on a healthy reading habit he has developed. From this new routine, Couros read The 7 Decisions by Andy Andrews. In this Epic Book Review, Couros shares some of his insights and thoughts and how they connect to education. In this episode, Couros also encourages viewers and listeners to reach out and share their gratitude with someone else!
Quotes:
“The Responsible Decision: The buck stops here. I accept responsibility for my past. I am responsible for my success.” - Andy Andrews
“The Guided Decision: I will seek wisdom. I will be a servant to others. I will listen to the counsel of wise people.
” - Andy Andrews
“The Active Decision: I am a person of action. I seize this moment. I choose now.” - Andy Andrews
“The Certain Decision: I have a decided heart. My destiny is assured.” - Andy Andrews
“The Joyful Decision: Today, I will choose to be happy. I am the possessor of a grateful spirit.” - Andy Andrews
“The Compassionate Decision: I will greet this day with a forgiving spirit. I will forgive even those who do not ask for forgiveness.” - Andy Andrews
"The Persistent Decision: I will persist without exception. I will continue despite exhaustion. I acknowledge that most people quit when exhaustion sets in." - Andy Andrews
“Overcoming obstacles, setbacks, and pitfalls is a requirement for navigating Your path to greatness. You must be aware of the potential challenges that lie ahead, otherwise, you‘ll be sabotaged and blindsided through your journey. Your first obstacles are within- fear and doubt. Your secondary obstacles are the ones outside of you - other people and their criticism, doubts, and rolling eyes.” - Andy Andrews
"Sometimes, in the midst of our challenges, it's easy to forget to express our gratitude to these people, to say, "Hello," or "Please," or "Thank you." Because we're so preoccupied, we don't congratulate each other or ask if anything difficult is happening in their lives. We don't compliment each other or commit random acts of kindness. It's amazing how, when you condition yourself to have a grateful spirit, you will find yourself expressing gratitude and multiplying that feeling in your life." - Andy Andrews
MY MIND WILL NOT DWELL IN THE PROBLEMS OF THE PAST. IT WILL LIVE IN THE SOLUTIONS OF THE FUTURE.” - Andy Andrews
